You Would

                                       you would, i know you
would. do it all again if
                                       you had to, you would.
allow yourself to be nailed to a cross, there, to be a sacrifice for all
mankind. to give us new life JESUS, you suffered in pain and agony
and would i stand by? deny? once, twice, thrice, the price too high?
i would like to think that
                                       perhaps i would stay by
your side, but, in truth i
                                       would run and hide. i'd
flow with the tide of the
                                       ones who cried, crucify.
so here now, i come to
                                       bow, and remember all
                                       that you've done on the
                                       cross, knowing that you
would do it all again for
                                       me. i know, you would.

Quite the challenge finding the right words to fit. But a worthwhile one!

I'd like to think I'd be brave and could sacrifice too, but could never live up to Him. And yes, I bet he would do it again.

This is so sweet. I love the care you took to find the right words to fit the love our Savior gave for us.

This is excellent, Elaine! The message, the word, the formatting. I'm so thankful "he would" do it over and over again.

Absolutely breath-taking piece, Elaine... perfect cross with Jesus at the heart, and very moving.

Would I stand by, deny or run? Good question. I'm so glad that what I would have done is so much less vital than what He did.

This is so perfect! If you only knew. I have spent three painful evenings helping my son with a poetry project. Eighteen autobiographical poems. He could choose which style from a few. The only one he said "no" to was the shape poem! I'll have to show him yours. Maybe he'll change his mind next time :).

Thanks for stopping in to see me over at the Wellspring. So good to make a new friend.
