Movin' Up

Came off the
rollercoaster ride,
Mr Meloncholy
by my side and
let it slide,
plateaued,
we rode the
moving platform
for a while.

"What's up?"
"I'm down"
I cried. then
he (illegibly)
prescribed a
newer, bluer,
chill pill. 75ml
Now I'm back
on the move
finding my groove,
stuck out my thumb
& hitch hiked,
"cause I like
moving up to
the next level
of numb

An excellent social comment on pez-dispensing—I mean the "alleged" over-proscribing of meds to supposedly cure our blues. Some smooth, wicked rhymes and plays on conceptual opposites.

oh, wow, Elaine.. Great one - the numb of being medicated moving to the next level - I like your rhymes interwoven in here as well.

Sadly this is all too true. I had a friend who kept leveling up. A sad waste of a life!

I like the jazzy, jaggedy rhythm of this one Elaine. "Next level of numb" is a great description!

This even looks like an escalator, and the language is just as smooth. Great sense of movement and controlled out of control, as it were.

Oh I like this. I agree with Lolamouse!
