No reservations for fine dining on a song
So "if music be the food of love- play on"
and on, with melodies and harmonies
best served upon the ivories, of Steinway.
And Stradivarius Strings.
And Stradivarius Strings.
The opening prelude whets my appetite.
Mere foreplay, awakening the senses
to a most opulent and extravagant entree.
interlude
To conclude, the final suite. A rich
crescendo honed with honey,
so light, as with wings, it takes flight.
The sweet aroma rising to the Heavens,
falling softly upon the ears of a God,
who gives His nod of approval from
the balcony.
This, is soul food. How it savours the
senses with internal applause.
Play it loud I say.
senses with internal applause.
Play it loud I say.
FORTE!

Music certainly is soul food. Very nicely done.
I love your whole metaphor of music as food.
Kate
I particularly liked the alliteration of "honed with honey"
Bravo indeed.
Well written. I too like alliterations and they are here in ample abundance. Like. :)
A feast for the soul indeed!
That was amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely wonderful and I loved
'How it savours the
senses with internal applause'
Beautiful!
Your Soul food must be similar, perhaps, to Sting's 'Soul Cake'. Lovely poem!
Oh I love this kind of dining. Music so rich and calorie free and worthy of God's nod of approval. Great images here.
ha. i like the interlude...and as we play our lives my prayer is that it is sweet music...
Good metaphor, and in whole quite true - there is no food so sweet and stirring as the music. It adds that spice and vivid extra texture to life!
Nice mix of literary and music reference from 12th Night to instrument names. A well done symphonic, metaphorical poem for a most enjoyable aspect to life.
Your choice of words is rich and descriptive. Music is a great source of inspiration for me. Thanks for sharing :)
very nicely done, Elaine...now I'm hungry for some soul food.
